I attended college at Jacksonville State University with an integrated studies degree in education and psychology. I have been working with children and families for 18 years, first as a teacher and for the last 10 years I have exercised my love for child development as a professionally certified educational therapist. I offer struggling learners a personalized approach to education and remediation using systematic, explicit, multi-sensory protocols that combine cognitive building skills with specific academic instruction. My desire is that all children become lifelong, competent, and confident learners. I love yoga, cooking, illustrating children's books, and spending time with my husband and grown children.
Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “There are one-story intellects, two-story intellects and three-story intellects with skylights. All fact collectors who have no aim beyond their facts are one-story men. Two-story men compare, reason, generalize, using the labor of fact collectors as their own. Three-story men idealize, imagine, predict - their best illumination comes from above the skylight.”
Teaching children to reach beyond the skylight is one of my greatest joys!
